IdeaGenius ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate IdeaGenius:
- Email address — when you subscribe to our free weekly newsletter. This is the only personal information we collect.
- Vote data — when you vote on ideas, we store the vote count server-side. Voted ideas are tracked locally in your browser via localStorage and are never linked to your identity.
- Bookmarks — saved ideas are stored locally in your browser only. We never see or store your bookmarks.
We do not collect:
- Names, phone numbers, or payment information
- Browsing history or behavioral tracking
- Device identifiers or IP addresses for profiling
2. How We Use Your Email
Your email address is used solely to send you the IdeaGenius weekly newsletter — a curated list of the top app ideas of the week. We will never:
- Sell, rent, or share your email with third parties
- Send promotional emails from sponsors or partners
- Use your email for advertising targeting
3. Cookies and Local Storage
IdeaGenius does not use tracking cookies. We use browser localStorage to remember your votes and saved bookmarks between visits. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
4. Third-Party Services
IdeaGenius uses the following third-party services to generate content:
- Reddit and Hacker News — publicly available posts are analyzed to identify trends. No personal user data from these platforms is collected or stored.
- OpenAI / OpenRouter — used to generate idea briefs from research data. No user data is sent to these services.
5. Data Storage and Security
Email addresses are stored securely on our server with restricted file permissions. We use HTTPS (SSL/TLS) to encrypt all data in transit. We do not store passwords, payment data, or sensitive personal information.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Unsubscribe — every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us directly to be removed.
- Request deletion — email us at hello@ideagenius.net to have your email address permanently deleted from our records.
- Access your data — we only hold your email address and subscription date. Request a copy anytime.
7. Children's Privacy
IdeaGenius is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us their email, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of IdeaGenius after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
